According to official customs data, the value of goods traded during the month reached 4.45 trillion yuan, representing a 16.9% increase compared with the same period last year.

Exports remained a key growth driver, rising 13.8% year-on-year, while imports advanced 21.5%, reflecting robust demand for overseas products and industrial materials. The balanced growth of both exports and imports points to healthy activity across the broader economy.

For the first five months of 2026, China’s total trade expanded 15.3% from a year earlier. The latest figures demonstrate continued momentum in international commerce and reinforce China’s role as a major contributor to global trade and economic activity.
