China Commits $17B to US Farms, White House Confirms

Key Highlights:

  • China commits to buying $17B annually in U.S. agricultural goods (2026–2028).
  • The agreement aims to restore disrupted bilateral farm trade flows.
  • Includes soybeans, meat, grains, and poultry products.
  • Deal follows major tariff-driven trade disruptions.
  • Supports U.S. farm sector recovery and China’s food security needs.

China has committed to purchasing at least $17 billion worth of U.S. agricultural products annually between 2026 and 2028, according to a White House statement released after recent trade talks between the two countries. The agreement is designed to strengthen agricultural trade ties and improve supply chain stability.

The deal comes after U.S. farm exports to China plunged 65.7% year-on-year to $8.4 billion in 2025 following escalating tariff disputes, based on U.S. Department of Agriculture data.

The new commitment is expected to help restore export volumes and provide support to American farmers who were impacted by the decline in trade.
